Emerald Studies In Deviant Leisure

Emerald Studies in Deviant Leisure offers an outlet for further exploration of the relationship between commodified leisure and harm. The series provides a new forum for publications that explore the harms of commodified leisure against a wider backdrop of consumerism and global capitalism.

This series transcends disciplinary boundaries inviting proposals for books from the fields of criminology sociology youth studies leisure and tourism studies cultural geography urban studies and many more.

We welcome proposals for monographs edited collections and short books (between 20 000-50 000 words). Contributions from early career researchers are particularly welcome.

Example topics include but are not limited to:

  • the night-time economy drugs and violence
  • gambling
  • social media
  • leisure in a digital era
  • leisure transgression and space
  • tourism luxury and environmental harm
  • sport drugs and harm
  • theoretical discussions of consumerism
  • work leisure and harm
